Clubhouses and Control buildings

Very few architects have the knowledge and experience to plan golf clubhouses or golf control precincts, and there are many recent examples of vastly expensive buildings, sometimes very grand, which simply do not work. The CGD group can design and provide detailed architectural documentation for golf-related buildings and can contribute strongly to planning the entire ‘hub’ precinct and the buildings required to operate golf courses successfully, both with new venues and with established golf premises. The diverse traffic and processing activities required for commercial success of a venue are complex, made more so when at quiet times, you want a minimum staff requirement. To understand what good planning is all about, you need look no further than what CGD achieved with the layout of the clubhouses at The Dunes Golf Links (Mornington Peninsula, Victoria), Thirteenth Beach Golf Resort (Barwon Heads, Victoria), and Melton Valley Golf Club (Melbourne, Victoria).

We have advised several long-established golf clubs on replanning and extending their clubhouse zones, including reviewing access and car parking needs, and provide a unique approach to new resort ‘clubhouses’ associated with hotel or investment residential units. In most cases, we work with architects capable of translating our intense planning recommendations into contract documentation for construction purposes.
